OPEN WATER

The most widely recognised diving certification in the world. If you are 15 or older, in good health, reasonably fit and comfortable in the water, you are eligible to train for the PADI Open Water certification (Junior Open Water minimum age 10 years).

You will receive your tuition from one of our experienced instructors for the 4 to 5 day course. In that time, the instructor will guide you through the basics of diving equipment and the fundamental theory and skills of scuba diving. The programme includes basic knowledge lessons and five confined water training sessions, and rounds off with four open water dives to put your new skills into practice. A maximum depth limit of 18m is specified for the qualification, a restriction that is reduced to 12m for Junior Open Water Diver.

Once you have successfully completed the course you will receive your PADI Open Water certification and a licence, which is recognised all over the world. You are on your way!

If you don't want to take the full Open Water course, there is a shorter programme leading to a SCUBA DIVER qualification, for which the theory content is not so extensive, and there are fewer qualifying dives. This certification is really intended for those who intend to limit themselves to diving on holiday, and allows successful students to undertake diving only when accompanied by qualified Divemasters or above.
