Dahab Diving
Because of the topography of the land and the fringing reefs, almost all diving around Dahab is done from the shore. Not that it in any way detracts from the experience – far from it. At one site, just stepping from the shore, you will find yourself over safe, shallow sand, excellent for training; at another, you will hang suspended beside a spectacular wall that plunges to 100m or more. What more could you ask?
It is little wonder that Dahab is now so high on the list of the Red Sea's popular dive resorts.
A typical day
A typical day's diving or snorkelling from our Blue Beach Dive Club would comprise two snorkel or SCUBA dives, either to the north or south of the town, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Between dives, there are opportunities to take refreshments and a meal, and to soak up the sunshine at a number of informal Bedouin restaurants. You might also choose to round off your activities with some night diving, and set yourself up for an evening meal in one of the friendly restaurants along Dahab's beach area.
All of the popular dive sites are suitable for snorkellers. Many allow you to drift lazily over glorious reefs, within an arm's reach of beautiful, rich corals and countless shoals of fantastically coloured fishes. A few, like The Bells and The Blue Hole, allow you simply to lie safe on the surface while you experience the thrill of hanging in space above a sheer underwater cliff, disappearing vertically to amazing depths below you.
All diving from Dahab includes tanks, air, weights and transport to sites. If you travel light and leave your own gear at home, we do, of course, maintain a stock of excellent diving equipment for hire.
If you feel like venturing a little farther afield for a day or two during your Dahab holiday, try a camel safari to the excellent dive sites of Ras Abu Galloum and Gabr El Bint, or a day boat from Sharm El Sheikh, to visit Ras Muhammed and SS Thistlegorm.
